Inspired by two of London's greatest builders.
We are not their heirs. We are their students.
Two men shaped how London is built.
The master builder who, in the 1820s, did something nobody else thought to do: he employed every trade directly, under one roof, answerable to one name. The result was Belgravia. Pimlico. Osborne House for Queen Victoria. Streets that have not merely survived two centuries, but defined what London looks like at its finest.
The architect who rebuilt a city. After the Great Fire of 1666, he gave London St Paul's, fifty-two churches, and a language of proportion and light that still draws the world here. What he left was more than architecture. It was the conviction that what we build should outlast us.
Cubitt Wren is a modern London construction firm, inspired by both.
We work the way Cubitt worked — every trade employed directly, every project led by a partner of the firm. We work to the standard Wren set — drawings respected, materials chosen with care, finish held to architectural tolerance.
We are not heritage romantics. We are a working company, taking on a small number of projects each year — full refurbishments, heritage restoration, structural alterations — across prime central London. The values are old. The execution is current.
Inspired by the two greats. Built for the next two centuries.
A street of three houses, a workshop, and a garden. Drawn the way we work — one street, every trade, no drama.
A house should feel a certain way the moment you walk in.
The weight of the front door. The quiet of a closed drawer. The way light falls across an oak floor at four in the afternoon. These are not details. They are the work.
We build to that standard — because it is the only standard worth keeping.
The opposite of the typical London builder.
Every trade, employed directly.
No subcontractor daisy chains. No accountability gaps.
A Project Director on every project.
Not a manager. Your first call, your weekly report, your handover walk.
Specification-literate.
We read drawings to architectural tolerance. We work to the spec — we do not improvise past it.
Weekly written reporting.
Photographs, progress against programme, decisions required. Every Friday, without fail.
Fixed-price contracts.
With variations priced, approved, and documented before any additional work begins.
We price honestly.
If a job isn't right for us, we say so. Our best advertisement is telling a client the truth.
If the work resonates, we should talk.
